I was there over the weekend, me the Mrs and two other couples....great time....we stayed here http://www.amsterdamhotels.demon.co.uk/renaissance.html All very good, everything you expect and some.....bathrobes, slippers, umbrellas to use if its raining, beds turned down every evening and a chocolate on the pillow, fresh fruit in the rooms....worth looking round for deals on the Net. This 5 star cost £16 more than a 3 star and we got the offer of 3 nights for the price of 2... Its near the centre, 2 minutes from Centraal Station....(Return ticket from airport is 6.20 Euros each) Depends what you are after but I reckon if you want to see more of the place and the variety then stay further out near the Van Gogh Museum and travel into the centre when you feel like it....or walk, its not far. Loads of great places to eat everywhere you look, the women were drinking wine and never got a bad glass, all the food was superb. We were drinking Westmalle which was pretty good.
