Striker Leroy Lita, who is on loan at Norwich, could be allowed to leave Reading in January for only £300,000. (The Sun) Shame we've no chance.
Whats everyone make of this then.... 'There had been rumours doing the rounds that compensation had been agreed with Sheffield United over the incident which left Hume with a fractured skull and that Barnsley were set to bid £2.5m for Hume's replacement at Leicester- Matt Fryatt who has hit 22 goals in 26 appearances for the Foxes already this season including two hat-tricks in his last three games to help them to the top of League One' (http://www.barnsley-mad.co.uk/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=422624) Do you think Fryatt's worth that and will we really splash 2.5 million on one player?!
strange.......................... if it was an accident as they have insisted then I can't see them coughing up compo

If media reports are to be believed, he's on his way to West Brom. When that kind of club is interested, we're wasting our time even contemplating it. Interesting quote from Davey on the BBC site: "Sometimes you have to gamble and I've been lucky with [owner] Patrick [Cryne] because he trusts my gambling." That to me says he's got someone in mind thats probably not on our 'radar'. A gamble in the sense of we'll have never heard of him, rather than the fee.
No chance whatsoever I thought Hume was over priced at £1.2m, and he's a better player than Fryatt imho. Strangely, it was Steve Howard that I thought was the striker we shouldve signed from Leicester. Who's supplying the chances for Fryatt to put away? Thats the player we need imho.
Very understanding bloke is Patrick What with Mostto being charged with putting up the decorations. £400k for a bauble washer.
Dunno what he cost. Dunno if he can cut it at Champ level Cos we never see him played as a centre forward.
Nugent ? Oh aye. But we also need a centre forward with 'presence' - ie dirty ****.

RE: Whats everyone make of this then.... If that's true it's a waste of money. You can get Lee Hughes and Liam Dickinson and still have over half the cash left you would have if you got Fryatt for that. Also what if he got injured? Yet another big money signing on the sidelines. I'd rather we buy a couple of strikers.
I agree I don't think we should buy any decent players in case they get injured. Why would Leicester sell though when they are top of the league
db3000,you must accept that it is Simon who is buying a striker and not any of the other managers,ie the guy at Burnley. Skill, insight and ability to rcognise a half decent striker is byond this man. I am convinced that he believes in Roy of the Rovers.
Davey hasn't done bad in most positions with bringing people in. However he's clearly struggled on the striker front. If we spend that amount on Fryatt and he gets injured for a lengthy period, there's no more money. If there's 2.5 million around they can bring in Hughes, Dickinson, a winger and someone else.
