I agree with Keith Hill getting us to play good football, generally I'm enjoying it.

HOWEVER... it really gets on my nerves when we get a free kick 40 yards out, or even on half way (especially if we're losing) and we just tap a pass to the side and carry on, rather than load some men into the box and have a go at goal.

It's particularly annoying when we're not playing that well or creating anything, which has happened at times during games recently, even when we've scored earlier on. We took a quick one today from about 40 yards out, and within 3 seconds we'd given it away and they were counter attacking.

I just think we're missing chances to score goals. Butterfield can put some great balls in and I think we'd score from the odd one. I bet the opposition are delighted when we take it so quickly and waste it.

    It's very frustrating

There's no reason why you can't play good passing football and attack the box when you get a free kick. It needs sorting.

Exactly, glad someone whose opinion I respect agrees.

It's been driving me mad for weeks now. Same with corners, we get them and then knock the ball short and waste it. But the free kick thing today nearly ended with us conceding about 3 times. Stick it in the box, you just never know.

    Great point that mate.
This happened twice today - We got a free-kick wide right, 40 yards out, and as you say, instead of pumping it into the box, Wiseman/McEveley knocked it backwards to McNulty, who knocked it to Steele, who lumped it up top, where within seconds they had it back attacking our full backs.
Just bizarre, as are a lot of decisions of late

Funnily enough, I was ranting about the same thing .....

Possibly the same incident.... Free kick, we passed to a player two yards away, who was under pressure.... we lost the ball, they went off on the counter attack, I started my rant, they lost the ball, we broke and we scored. Soon shut me up.:)

I agree with what you say though. We need to mix it up more. Free kicks and corners in and around the box we are too static, and the ball always seems to come straight back out. We need more people making runs into the box to connect with crosses, rather than the general jostling for position in twenty square yards if space.
