I was at that match, having been to Filbert Street, Leicester. The boss at work let us off to go to Oakwell during the afternoon. I was on the terrace on the stand side. Ken Oliver scored for the Tykes.
Had a ticket, got time off from work, missed train at King's X. After first match at Leicester thought we would win it.
I was at Broadway Technical Grammar School we threatened to go on strike for the afternoon when they said we couldn't have afternoon off. They called an emergency assembly and told us they'd been winding us up and were going to give us time off all the while.
I remember going to see Leicester at TARN when I was a young kid - but I think it was later than this match. If I remember right Shilton was in goal for them. And there were a load of Leicester fans on the Ponti.
goodness me how things have changed now, i wish i could have seen footy in those days. thats how the game was meant to be played and meant to be supported.
Unfortunately no, as it was midweek. Made my Oakwell debut on Saturday 1 April 1961 when we beat Port Vale 5-1. Went to the FA Cup game against Everton on the 15 January 1963, which we lost 3 nil. That was our last home game until 16 March. I think the game Young Nudger remembers against Leicester was January 1969, 1-1

Re: here ya go look at this I was there - went to Leicester on the Saturday. Thought I couldn't get to the replay as it was a 2pm kick off because we had no floodlights in those days. In the end I thought **** it and played truant from school. Worth the bollocking I got from everybody. What's a day's school compared to a cup quarter final when you are 15 and mad on football? I went on to spend 43 years as a teacher, and always remembered that when I had to deal with kids who had wagged off. Often a good reason! Oh, and by the way, it was Gordon Banks in goal for them.
