Anderson De Silva going nowhere....yet - Davey

Barnsley have fended off a bid from Bristol City for Anderson De Silva and are determined to keep hold of their Brazilian playmaker.

The Tykes are braced for further offers for the 26-year-old, who they signed from Everton on a permanent basis in January 2008, with fellow Championship side Preston also reported to be interested in the midfielder.

Barnsley manager Simon Davey told the club's official website: "We received a bid for Anderson from Bristol City last month, but we turned it down.

"We have a valuation for every player and the bid received was nowhere near that.

"Everybody has a price. Just look at what has happened with Ronaldo and Kaka in the last week, but Anderson is a very, very important player to Barnsley Football Club and our valuation reflects this."

De Silva arrived at Oakwell for an initial loan spell in November 2007 before Everton agreed to make the move permanent for an undisclosed sum.

I think what Davey meant

Was that if the fees received for Ronaldo and Kaka were enormous we should at least value Anderson higher than already offered.

How did you come to that conclusion?

It says above that each player has a price and if the best teams in the world sell their better players then we'll have to as well.

 

Just the fact that the club are talking to the media (THE RIGHT PRICE) about ADS shows they're trying to drum up interest for a player thats out of contract next season. They probably know he's no interest in signing a new contract and before let him walk away a free agent next year, will try to cash in now.

Like it or not we live in a player powered game now.
