If he wasnt Yorkshires cricket captain how would he justify being selected? Not one score over 50 this season. Averaging less than 18 with the bat.
Agreed....not sure who else there is at the minute other that Jack Leaning though? Can see Gale retiring at the end of this season to be honest. If he does stay on i doubt he would keep the captaincy; i think its time to pass it onto Lees now.
There should be a limit on how many players England can rip out of a team at any one time, its got ridiculous with us at the minute.
Re: There should be a limit Agreed and the way things are going at Scarborough it looks like the Middlesex bogey is going to strike again. I think the league title might be too much for them this season. Kane Willianson has been a big let down as well. We just keep making poor choices with our imports, or its just bad luck
Re: There should be a limit He's not in form but then not many of them are. Obviously losing bairstow, rashid, plunkett, Willey and root has a massive effect. Cricket isn't as reactionary as football, the team has only lost 4 times in the last 3 years. Back them to get in form through hard work and application. I fail to see how signing Kane Williamson could ever be seen as a bad choice.
Need to be looking at top batters from other counties like we did with Willey. Surrey are being linked to Borthwick. Even Essex are being linked to Hales.
You can see the Cook/Hales connection there though, not that Cook plays much for Essex. I'm sure they would love to have England's one and two in their team.
Re: There should be a limit I agree he's been poor so far this season, but I don't think he is a bad choice. Presently vying with Root and Smith to be the best batsman in test cricket, no idea why he's not getting runs.
Re: There should be a limit I didn't mean he was a bad choice, as such. Neither were Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch. All I meant was that these big guns didn't fire for us, and Williamson is struggling this season. I know he's a great player
