Felt for him yesterday. It was obvious he wasn't going to start today so I really can't understand why he was encouraged/instructed to finish the stage yesterday and why he was allowed to do it alone. A team mate should have held back to help pace him home. I don't think he would have got on the podium without the earlier falls but he had built his entire season around the tour so it's a shame for him.
Ah reight. I thought Hunter was encouraging him to continue. Seems a strange choice for him to do that then because it did seem like he couldn't continue as his time showed.
Our girt said it looked like he was made to continue, but it was just Hunter encouraging him to get going after he had made the decision himself to ride on. Hats off to him, I say.
Hard to tell, Contador looked in a reight tacking when he got back on his bike but then proceeded to pull a minute back on the peloton with the aid of his team mates then Nibali`s team went to front and put the pressure on and the minute gained was lost in no time plus more besides. Must hev summat to do wit adrenalin. Talansky it made to the end inside the time limit so he proved it was possible but he would have had the manager and team in his ear last neet convincing him to retire from the race.
Like you say the adrenaline probably got him over the line but he must have been hurting this morning.
