I know i'll get slated for this (as that's what usually happens on here) but just heard from a work collegue who happens to know Davey's agent that we've put a £200,000 bid in for Andy Bishop.
I know I shouldn't shoot the messenger but, please stop it. After having read numerous reports on this guy I would rather not see him sign. But, if we do,it would be tipically in the Davey mould. Again, if we do sign him I just wonder how and where this manager generates idea's and from.
I know. Just think signing a player who's consistently scored goals over the past 3 years in a poor side. It's ludicrous.
Not in the slightest. Odejayi had scored 30 goals in 100 starts & 50 sub appearances for Cheltenham so 1 in 5 ratio over 4 years. Andy Bishop has scored 44 goals in 102 starts & 9 sub appearances. Closer to 1 in 2.
But Bradford turned him down so why are we after a striker that a lower league club has turned down its a no-brainer!
They will always be unproven at this level............... unless gave a chance, not saying he'd be my top target
Bradford have'nt turned him down.......... stuart mccall says they could'nt even match bury's contract offer, so basically said he could'nt afford him in the interview i saw
Although I still think stats are less than useless I nevertheless need you to educate me. What is the pedigree of Macken compared to that of Bishop? please.
But if stats are less than useless how do you determine a 'proven' player at this level? And what do you base your opinion that Andy Bishop is no good for us on? Macken has been transferred for over £6 million in his career. He has an average goals to start ratio of 1:3.
That's right. http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sportbcfc/sportbcfcheadlines/4044271.McCall_buries_Bishop_rumour/
Spoke to a Bury fan earlier today. Apparently, he's a really good player and excellent for that Division. However, he doesn't have much pace and he fears that he would only be able to step up one level and doesn't think he could cut it at the Championship level.
I had a similar report from a Bury fan myself which was cause for influence. Given Daveys seemingly lack of ability to recognise a quality striker I would think that Bishop would be on par with Oddjob. I do think that Davey, possibly yourself also, posess an automatic assumption that a player who scores many goals for fun in the lower league would do so in a couple of divisions higher.
