Was speaking to a town fan this morning. It was booths testimonial yesterday. Said he was disappointed that they only had just over 7000 fans there for it. He also went on their pre-season tour of ibiza, and said that booth looked slow and not fit.
they needed 5000 to break even so it's not a bad payday for a bloke who's had a long career on top whack wages.
Leeds Tyke a question and it's genuine, not a wind up for cheap shots or derision,
Where do you think the club would be now if Peter Ridsdale was our chairman, financially, the club profile, playing staff etc and what do you think the next 10 years would hold ?
I know that his position at Cardiff is guided by the horendeous position they are in so that is not a fair comparison.
One of the reasons I'm asking is to determine what PR could have brought to the table that the current board haven't. I'm also asking you as you seem to be a proponent of PR.
Dave
(If you post and I don't respond I'll be back on line tomorrow)

RE: Leeds Tyke a question I notice that Leeds Tyke didnt answer. I am not surprised. I think that the question was too hard for him.
Good Question........ I have about as much idea as you have..pure conjecture.I think the big difference between PR and GS is that PR was procactive rather than reactive. I will try to answer each question. 1)Financially? I think PR would have brought more outside investment into the club by way of sponsorship and direct investment maybe a share issue. 2)Club profile? well i would say we would all agree BFC would be higher profile nationally maybe due to the fact of PRs involvment at Leeds United. That said i do believe he would sell the club to people within the game far better than the current board appear to do. 3) Playing staff? who knows its a gamble that the manager at the time makes it pays off or it doesnt a bit of luck is needed in getting a good manager i guess. I dont think we would have stuck with Paul Hart though. The next 10 years? Maybe higher expectations that we currently have and the majortity of those years in the Championship, which is what i think we will see anyway. I dont think he would have been here 10 years and im sure he wont be at Cardiff that duration either. If i could ask a couple of questions? 1)What future do you see under GS? 2)What will happen when GS steps down?
No in fairness to LT I don't think he's been on line since the question was posed, give the man a chance !!!!
RE: Good Question........ Thanks. Good answer.
I am an accountant therefore I tend to be reactive as my information is usually historic.
1 GS we have a very safe pair of hands and we will make steady progress under tight financial management. We'll go back to being something like we were the lasttime we were in the division.
2 After GS now that is a really good question, I have no idea but I hope it is a person with patience who wants to build a club for the future.
Cheers
Dave

Typical Accountant... Thanks for your reply, its all about finding a happy middle ground between the two schools of thought. Heres to a steady season and safety, god i sound like my accountant now!
RE: Typical Accountant... yes I know !!!! It's curse !!!!
One of the benefits is to be able to pull account to pieces to see behind the ******** (sometimes) like at Cardiff, headline Hamman writes off £6m loan!!! well no actually,it was a loan from the parent co which means that there is no reduction in group indebtedness which as at May 2004 (the last figures available for the group...2005 now late)_ was £30m. They are soooooooo fecked it is unbelievable. Unless the stadium is built and they raise the finance they're doomed I tell you !!!
Dave

Leeds Tyke - More Questions for you... We have a higher profile now than we did before. That is because we are in a higher division than before. That is with the current managment and the current board supporting them as much as possible. LT - You talk a bout a share issue scheme. What makes you think that would have been successful? The Bond scheme didnt seem that successful. Do you think PR would have improved the finances as quickly and do you think he would have frozen season ticket prices?
