Just finished listening to a recording of the programme.

The most biased and totally unprofessional broadcast I have heard... ever!

No mention of us retaining our Championship status 'Champagne on ice" and "Champagne back in the fridge" etc etc

A casual mention of the final score at Leeds with no reference to how it affects us.

Appallingly unprofessional - who does the research?

The presenter had no idea of our status until after the Simon Davey interview - unbelievable!

"Reds fans how are you feeling after the 1-0 defeat at home by Leicester?"

We were all feeling fecking brilliant because we are staying up you moron !!!!!

Usually, the coverage is more than fair - but yesterday was abysmal.

Upon leaving the ground, I had to re-tune to Radio Humberside to find out what was happening in the Leeds Game. Their coverage was superb - and included the full feed from BBC Radio Leeds.

Paul & Seth are both excellent brodcasters - but Giddings just didn't do his homework yesterday. He also announced that the Leeds game had finished - when in fact it had not.

Giddings also allowed a Sheffield United supporter to get away with saying that it was Radio SHEFFIELD and therefroe none of the other local teams warranted a mention. He ought to have reminded him that it is a condition of their funding that all South Yorkshire teams (plus Chesterfield) receive appropriate coverage.

    Shoddy job all around Andy.

    Agree.

He made himself look an absolute idiot yesterday.

It was squirmingly embarassing to be a Red and listenning to that

I listen to 'Football Heaven' every night, but they are getting fewer and fewer callers and really they should start to have a re-thinkabout why this is happening.

Typical biased crap from a team that only care for the sheffield two. Just look at the advert they have for football heaven, they only whisper Barnsley, easy to miss.

And people wondered why the football club fell out with them, they lie and edit material to get at Barnsley. They even try to alter the Leeds point total and score to say that we can still go down....what next

All reds should boycot this joke for a station.

Unprofessional professionals (they have not even got the excuse of amateurs

I did exactly the same, and the thing that really needled me the most...

...was thinking back to last year when Wendesday survived and Radio Sheffield was all over the place, beside itself with what a massive achievement this was for the continued development of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club and handing out massive congratulations to the players, the manager, the staff and the fans etc etc...

...we stay up in exactly the same kind of circumstances, having been promoted through the playoffs the season before, and having survived financial hardship this year, having made nothing less than the same level of achievement as they did the year before, and with the result being not one bit less significant to us - the coverage was shocking. Simon Davies had to tell the f**king presenter we were safe, and even after he'd done the relatively simple maths of 4-3=1, it made not difference to the attitude of the show.

Shocking really. I expect Look North to be biased towards Leeds United and dominated by Leeds coverage, but this takes the piss, I expected more from Radio Sheffield (don't know why like).

    complain to the bbc

I wonder how many complaints about biased coverage it would take before somebody unbiased at the bbc (ie someone down in london, not sheffield) takes notice.

I was listening to it for about 10minutes and all they talked about was Chesterfield who arent even in Yorkshire, and who were more-or-less down even before yesterdays results.

I honestly couldn't believe what I was hearing when I listened this morning!

Whoever the caller Jack was he made a damn good effort to put Giddings straight and all he got was put down after put down.

Giddings' back was about as far up as he could get it and it was obvious that he didn't have a leg to stand on and tried his best to bluster his way out of it

"Of course I know..." he said when this Jack tried to point out that we were staying up, when it was obvious that neither he, nor the show had any idea whatsoever.

How many times did he keep mentioning the 1 - nil defeat.? I lost count after about 10 times - it was almost as if he was gloating.

    It was excruciating

Then, allowing that idiot Blade to come on and spout how the programme is called RADIO SHEFFIELD and that the station shouldn't be bothering about any other local teams, only the Sheffield teams.

No congratulations, absolutely nothing and as you pointed out when Wednesday stayed up last season, we never heard the end of it and living with an Owl I know how much **** and gloating I had to put up with.

There's bias and there's bias, but that programme last night was the worst most unprofessional piece of broadcating I have heard.

How to put down a local team who have retained their Championship status "FOR ANOTHER YEAR! " with biased innuendoes and snide asides.

I too shall be e-mailing them.

Really they did themselves no good whatsoever

    that idiot Blade

really wound me up too,I think they will find that while its called radio Sheffield thats more to do with where its based, and it should actually be aimed at the city AND the surrounding communities, how long could it continue to get BBC backing if it stuck to the actual city boundaries.Really pissed me off big time yesterday, then on the way home switched to radio Leeds and had a good laugh!!!!!!!!

    My email...

The football coverage provided by Radio Sheffield yesterday as the final scores were coming in was awful. I was sat in the Oakwell car park after the game listening to it. Wish I hadn't bothered.

The service that Radio Sheffield is supposed to supply, is supposed to provide coverage for South Yorkshire generally and not just the city of Sheffield.

I am openly willing to accuse radio sheffield of letting down the supporters of Barnsley Football Club - and an apology should be offered, particularly by Andy Giddings.

    1) With two games left it is easy to work out the maths on what will happen to who under the variable circumstances. It is unacceptable for Radio Sheffield to be transmitting 'THE CHAMPAGNE IS BACK ON ICE AT OAKWELL' when actually the club was safe from relegation. Primary school mathematics.

    2) When it is obvious that the most dramatic issue in the region was waiting for the Leeds result to come in - pure drama - Radio Sheffield left Barnsley fans totally in the dark and were at least ten minutes later than other stations in reporting the fact that the final whistle had been blown at Ellend Road AND THE FACT THAT MEANT BARNSLEY WERE SAFE. Radio 5 Live had it before Radio Sheffield!

    3) Why was Andy Giddings goading reds fans with 'Barnsley slump to defeat at home to Leicester - what do you think about that Reds fans?' when obviously the real issue was 'Barnsley have won their fight against relegation - what do you think about that reds fans?'. I didn't hear one word of congratulations, but repeatedly I kept hearing 'Leicester beat Barnsley 1-0 - what do you think about that?'.

    3) Talk about spinning the triumph of Barnsley's survival to sound negative - 'BARNSLEY EXTEND THEIR STAY IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP BY ONE SEASON WITH A LATE GOAL AT ELLAND ROAD'. What?! Can you not, through gritted teeth, acknowledge the achievement that had been made with genuine enthusiasm?

    4) Last year when Sheffield Wednesday made exactly the same achievement to secure their survival in the Championship (up through the playoffs, still up after a season of financial adversity) BBC Radio Sheffield went overboard talking about the massive result, the huge achievement, how the odds were stacked against them, how elated the fans should feel, congratulations to the players, manager, staff, fans etc etc It was massively positive - and to be fair Wednesday deserved that kind of coverage. In comparison Barnsley got nothing. It's almost as if it never happened. If you call yourself journalists, and you think you have genuine integrity and impartiality, you ought to be ashamed of the coverage you have provided to the reds fans.

I realise that you can't read all the emails over the air - but I didn't really send this looking to get air time, but I would appreciate a reply and some sort of an explaination. I doubt I'll get one though, because I'm not an Owl or a Blade.

    Faithfully,

I think you will get a response...

...Paul Walker and Seth Bennett are normally fair when it comes to their coverage of the non Sheffield based clubs.

Giddings balls it up big time yesterday, or the radio back room tw*ts. If any Barnsley fan who was not at the match listened to Giddings rant on on how Barnsley lost and the bubbly back in the fridge, would have been totally rejectedon these comments. Poor show Andy, poor show. (N)

Completely agree. I was disgusted with Andy Giddings yesterday - if our local radio station is getting such basic things wrong what chance have we got? I thought he was generally poor throughout the phone in yesterday - not listening to what callers were saying, so when they asked him a question he didnt have a clue. Letting dee dars get away with making stupid comments about it being a sheffield station. The constant references to us being beaten at home and how did we feel made me want to throtle him.
