Andy Ritchie says he is bemused on why we lost................I'M NOT !!!!!

We lost because of one thing..........QUALITY !!!! (how many times do's this need repeating ???)
I am not an expert at football........I hope Andy Ritchie is
But even before a ball was kicked this season, I among others knew we were short of quality
We still need
Cover for Colgan
One maybe two centre halves
Two strikers
Its also become obviuos that the left back position is now a problem area

So all in all we need 5 or 6 additions to the squad
I am fed up of waking up on a Sunday morning and the first thing that crosses my mind is 'fooooking Barnsley football club - lost again' !!!!!
I don't need this in my life, I don't need the worry
Its obvious that a lot of fans are feeling the same because they are starting to vote with their feet and stay away
10.5k attendance when Coventry brought about 1.5k....thats poor
So Mr Shephard, if Andy Ritchie can't sort it out, then its up to you to sort it
Players are wanted..........NOW !!!!
If, like you say, he refuses to sign more players then I would suggest you put his new contract on HOLD
OK, there might be a great atmosphere in the dressing room, but there won't be at the end of the season if this continues
They, the players, may put a lot of effort in - but its plain to see some of them are not up to Championship standard ie. the forwards, Wright, Nardia, Richards, Hayes.
And the worrying thing is that most clubs know this now - hence the Coventry start yesterday i.e. get at them and if we can get a quick goal they will fold because they aint got any quality to claw it back

Because of yesterday, I have now got a worried Sunday to get through

 

Excellent post mate and I for one do think you are a football expert, whatever one of those are. Anyone who has been watching the team for as many years as you have has seen good and bad Barnsley teams, and can see further than the "Ritchie must be great because he got us promoted" brigade.

I'm sick of hearing that the team over achieved last season.That's nothing more than an excuse for this seasons failings. League tables don't lie. Last season we were 5th in the league and were fortunate to win on penalties in Cardiff. Anyone who goes up via the play offs generally seems to find it hard unless there are squad improvements and our squad was weakened by players who left not being replaced.

I wasn't a great fan of McPhail but it can't be a coincidence that he is now playing for the team sitting at the top of the league.

Ritchie must be one of the few who can't see this teams failings. He never seems to know why we lose a game.There were 10000 people yesterday who could see that we have defenders who can't, defend that is, and strikers who are playing two leagues above their level.

Go down to training and you will see that the only coaching which is taking place is being done by John Lukic with the goalkeepers. Ritchie and Holden need to stop playing in training and start to coach.That's what they are paid to do.

 

johnny I've seen you make that statement several times

about ritchie & holden joining in with the 8-a-sides. Is that based on a couple of visits to training or are you a regular attender?

 

Could the simple problem be this................Andy Ritchie is too nice

He (Andy Ritchie) is so nice he dosen't like to sack players
Alternatively
Barnsley Football Club cannot afford to be in the Championship eg. we can't afford wages of experienced championship players

It's based on what I have seen pre-season and what I have seen in the 3 or 4 times I have been able to get down. I am also in regular contact with coaches like myself who nip down when they can to see what they are doing in training. I spoke to three yesterday who have all been down to see what's going on after they have read my posts.

It's also based on the feedback I have been getting from the regular attenders at training sessions, who fair enough may not be qualified coaches but they can work out the basics of what is going on.

I also get private email from people who are closer to the dressing room than I am. There names will remain private.

You may also have noted that no one has come on here and challenged my observations. The reason for that is that I have reported exactly what I have seen down to the last minute.
