Andy Ritchie gave his thoughts on tonight’s defeat at Scnuthorpe: “I’m disappointed with the result but I’m not so disappointed with the performance. We knew what type of game it was going to be, we thought it would be an up-and-under game and I thought that we did quite well in that aspect, better than we probably would have done last season. “When you get on top of a team like we did in the second half, you’ve got to take your chances and we could have been 2-nil up before they scored. “We thought that Neil Austin was fouled as he went up for the ball before their second goal. “All the lads are disappointed but we’ve got to take a little heart from the way we did play football and you’ve got to be brave to do that at a place like this because it’s quite easy to get taken into the way they play which I thought we did a little bit in the first half. “Paul Hayes is a young lad, he’s only 21, he’s learning his trade and I think that he is exciting but he is also mature as well in the way he holds the ball up. It’s going to be a pleasure to work with Paul and Danny as well because the two are young kids and hopefully we will work at bringing them on to better things.”
