Mr Brailsford is the absolute master at getting his riders to peak at the right time, the other nations must be tearing their hair out trying to work out how he keeps managing to put us on the track/road at each Olympics that little bit better/stronger/quicker than they are. First we need to hold him at gunpoint until he agrees never to take his expertise to another country, then every single one of our sports federations need to sit down with him and ask him to help them draw them up a blueprint for their own training/performance cycles in the hope they can replicate even a bit of the success of the cycling team. Absolutely brilliant, surely now it will be Sir Dave sooner rather than later.
Don't think we need Brailsford to tell us what we need to do to improve the national football team's fortunes. I bet you or I could draw up an action plan aimed at addressing that particular problem, which would then be 'given serious consideration' by the FA and (crucially) Premier League, then rejected out of hand as it would contain advice that would impact on the greed and selfishness that is consuming/has consumed the national game.
