6,000 runs for Ali Cook. Gooch, he's coming to get you. 6,000 runs. Only sachin tendulkar i thinks got there quicker.
???? But then again how many would Gooch had got had he not got banned for the South Africa tour many years ago?
get any of todays modern batting heroes and put them on a turner or god forbid a wet wicket and they look fools cant compare todays cricket to 20 plus years ago
Gooch as said cooks better than him. Apparently i heard/ read somewhere that he might be leaving though. Only 2 of the best men trust him and talk to him about batting. Cook and Ravi Bopara.
Its about one era outdoing another era and its feckin boring because sports change continually so comparisons are shi t.
They want one of those machines from the last rocky film where they played them off and rocky kicked his arse.
I jut looked at sachin tendulkar and these bowlers at the minute at the min are troubling him massively.
Agree entirely. Cook's overcome technical difficulties to blossom into a quality opening batsman, but how would he have coped versus Holding, Roberts, Marshall, Ambrose, Walsh, Wasim, Waqar, Imran Khan, Thompson, Lillee, on uncovered pitches and with no limit on number of bouncers per over? Obviously, we'll never know...
Depends how you're defining world class. I don't think there's an attack that scares the crap out of batsmen any more, but a lot of that is down to rule changes and friendlier pitches. I'd say our current attack is as good a group as any England attack I can recall, and the way they've regularly dispatched some strong batting line ups would suggest they're world class in today's climate. Whether we can call them world class when compared to the historical greats is a different matter entirely.
