Ben Smythe vanished at around 7pm on Sunday after leaving a friend's home in Riddfield Road, Bromford.

But he was found safe on Monday afternoon about three miles from his home in the Kingstanding area of the city shortly after 2.30pm on Monday.

West Midlands Police said Ben has been reunited with his parents but is being interviewed by specially-trained officers to find out what had happened to him.

Officers had conducted searches of the Bromford area overnight after Ben's family raised the alarm.

A police helicopter was also called in to help the search as police carried out house-to-house enquiries.
