Thursday this time, issued by FIFA with the threat of a 'hearing'. From Yorkshire Post: Wait goes on for Colace and Tykes ARGENTINIAN midfielder Hugo Colace may have to wait another week to make his debut for Barnsley because of a row with his former club Newell's Old Boys. Colace signed a two-year deal with the Tykes this summer and has been training at Oakwell since June – but his former club have still not released the necessary papers required for Barnsley to obtain international clearance. Football's world body, FIFA, have stepped in to resolve the dispute by issuing the Argentinians with a final deadline of Thursday to comply. Colace, 24, was the captain of the Argentinian Under-21 side and played on loan last season for Brazilian champions Flamengo. Club secretary Don Rowing said: "This has been frustrating for everyone at the club, especially Hugo who is working hard and raring to go. We have had a letter from FIFA which says his old club now has until Thursday to submit the papers otherwise it goes to a hearing." Barnsley manager Simon Davey is desperate to bring Colace into his side after losing the first two League games of the season and suffering a first round Carling Cup exit against Crewe Alexandra.
This story has got ....... "unfortunate / breaks leg on debut" written all over it.
Eventually.

With this statement can people please stop using the international clearance as part of argument against the club and in particular Davey? This is not anyones fault except Colace's old club.
Barnsley manager Simon Davey is desperate .... ..... to bring Colace into the side ....... cos his English is crap and he doesn't answer back and as many of the squad refuse to be good boys at the moment (unlike his special favourite Odejayi) options are a bit limited on the first team front
How do you know that? FIFA have said there will be a hearing, that means that they are yet to make a decision. The argentinian club may well be right for al we know. I still say that it is not a coincidence that barnsley have had problems getting things sorted quickly so many times under the present leadership.
so was togwell the sensible option would have been to keep him until you're allowed to play your new signing.
See, your assuming the worst in us again! Be positive! It's my aim this season to get a postive comment regarding BFC out of you this season
'I still say that it is not a coincidence that barnsley have had problems getting things sorted quickly so many times under the present leadership.' F.ck me. So it's happened twice in 2 years? How many players have come from abroad? Stan, Peter Ratchet, Werling, Van Homoet, Muller, Christensen, Mossto, El Haimour, Souza, Leon & Colace are the ones I can remember. Muller was delayed by a couple of days, he missed the first match of the season after signing on the Friday. He played the next Tuesday night. Show me all the other 'so many times'.
RE: How do you know that? This has nothing to do with Davey - it's down to the administrators. Do you think he fills the forms in?
It makes the decisions To allow Togwell to leave and an apparent refusal to consider selecting Johnson even more baffling.
Togwell wanted first team football I think Davey and the club did the right thing by him. Johnson I cannot explain, only speculate. If the plan is to muddle through until De Silva returns, I fear our target of a top half finish will be a distant memory come October. From Phillips to fck all. Simply dont understand whats going on.
I thought you knew everything From 'Togwell wanted first team football' to ' I don't understand what's going on' in one post.....priceless (clown)
All i said was that FIFA have not yet decided and that we do not know who is in the wrong. I said that under the present leadership this has happened a few times (late/slow registering of players) and it cannot be a coincidence. I never said that it was Barnsley's fault and never even mentioned Simon Davey. Maybe the football league for whatever reason are dealing with our registration's late?
