The number of times we have gifted the opposition a goal due to a defensive howler/mix up late on in a game and today was no exception. What the hell Flavell and De Giverney were up to I don't know but we drew a game that we should have put to bed much earlier. Still all our defenders at some time have made a **** up of what should have been a routine back pass or piece of defending. Remember Pines at Stockport, Okeefe and his suicidal back pass and so it goes on.... Not learning are we.

it's almost impossible this late in the season to rectify these kind of things we've been through too many keepers too many defensive lineups, too many midfield variations, nobody really knows exactly what their responsibilities are, it's a mess needs ripping up and starting over for next season try and get a consistent base of keeper and defence and a solid defensive midfielder in front, once you get this right you can worry about the rest of the team but until we can keep some clean sheets we are going nowhere

Young inexperienced keeper. Came out and got too close without actually claiming it. The kind of unfortunate error we're going to have to accept while he is learning. Other than the howler Flavell had a really good game I thought. There is real promise there.

MDG should have put the ballin row Z. Harsh to blame Flavell. MDG is useless a lot more than good. Yet another French second tier punt.

Goalkeeper came for it. Unreasonable to blame MDG solely. As he may have put Flavells head in row Z.
Flavell did make an outstanding save in the closing minutes.
Sickening goal to give away though.
If Shephard and Lopata have been as good as reported. Hopefully good competition for places. will be in for next season.

Smash the ball out and deal with the throwing/corner. Nobody ever scored from the stands.

There both to blame mdg doesn't shield it or deal with it, expects flavel to come collect he is indecisive and it ends up costing us. Flav had a good game though made some good saves 1st half and a class one late on. He will learn I'm not sure mdg will, same old. Marc Roberts also got away with a few lapses yesterday we looked defensively terrible at times.

Agreed there was hesitancy from Mael and Kieren, but give some credit to Asamoah, he anticipated the error and was in the right place to capitalise. Would we have done the same at the other end?

Watching Flavell's reaction after the final whistle with his hands over his face shaking his head I think he probably realises he should have done far better.
Other than that I thought he was excellent with his shot stopping and distribution.

Flavell has cost us two wins in the past two games with his two howlers. Thankfully the season is already over.

I think most people would say he has saved us two defeats. For me, he's been excellent; yes, the odd error, but he's young and has been thrown in at the deep end. I've been impressed and he needs people to have faith in him and support him, not just knock him at the first opportunity.

MDG should have taken control of the situation and put ball into stands. He has surely enough experience to do so, however his decision making again let’s him down. He his far too error prone for a centre half and I think we should be looking at moving him on in summer.

I wouldn’t have said the Cambridge one was a howler. He possibly should have done better but to describe it as a “howler” is a bit much in my opinion.

Yesterday’s wasn’t great and I’m sure he will know that. He bounced back with a couple of good saves after so hopefully he can keep bouncing back. He’s a young lad, he will make mistakes.

I think both players could have done better with it.

Flavell is young and inexperienced so will make mistakes. The way he bounces back from them will be important.

MDG seems to keep making these kinds of mistakes. He seems to have decent games in general but then there’s always a massive brain fart moment in him. We need some defenders who are solid and dependable and I’m not sure any of them are at this stage.

The Cambridge goal he could have stuck a leg out whilst staying on his feet and save it. He's bound to make mistakes but these two have been really basic ones. Outside of the two howlers he has done well and when Gauci is back I would keep Flavell.

I agree it wasn’t great that it went through his legs. I just think as a “howler” as more of what happened yesterday or what Meslier did for Leeds yesterday for the first goal he conceded.

I agree. Usually id attribute that error to the goalkeeper, however, given his age and inexperience, Mael should have take authority and just leathered it away. Now had it been Roberts, Collins, Davies, Steele etc, then id fully blame keeper and say Mael did the right thing

De Giverney stepped aside and handed a clear run on goal. I don't blame the keeper. De Giverney has been making **** ups all season.

Mael did the right thing if it was Gauci, Roberts etc. Run across attacker and slow him down enough without making contact for keeper to collect. Unfortunately he's an inexperienced young lad who's learning and we fumbled it. However like I said in previous post, I do put a lot of blame on Mael because he should have taken control with him knowing who's in our goal.
