I was having a sleepless night and whilst listening to BBC World Service on my radio was sad to learn of the death of Chick Corea, the famous and brilliant jazz pianist and composer. He died in February.
It may not mean much if anything to you but this man has been one of jazz music's elite for decades.
Apparently he composed pieces of such musical complexity that he had to practise them thoroughly to play them properly himself.
If I hadn't been awake at 2.30 the other morning I wouldn't have been aware of this.

I went through a similar period in the 80’s as my BiL was a bit of an old hippy and got me into loads of stuff.
Thought I’d like Stanley Clarke as I was idolising Mark King at the time.

J to Z of Jazz on BBC Radio 3 did a tribute to him the other week. It's on the programme's website.
