Working in Lincoln I used to go up and down the A15 and then, as now, it is a very common sight to see lots and lots of rabbits sitting by the side of the road, appearing to watch the traffic go by. They don't run away from the vehicles, just sit there sight seeing. Anyway, I rang in to Radio 5 breakfast and spoke to Peter Allen and told him that I was from the local Lincoln council traffic management and that at about 11 o'clock that morning the A15 would be closed while some new rabbit "tunnels" were opened up and down the roadside so that the rabbits could get from one side of the road to the other in safety. I could hear gales of laughter in the background, but whether it was because of the thought of the rabbit safety or they'd realised the date I don't know.
