Certainly looks that way. And as much as I agree that he needs help, IMO, you need to want to change, and I'm not sure Paul does. Evidence over the years suggests that. Shame, but like Best, he'll always be a hero for what he did on the pitch.
I really liked him until I read his autobiography. I don't think he is capable of taking responsibility for anything. He always had an excuse. "I shouldn't have hit Cheryl, but..." I don't really think he was sorry for anything. Unfortunately that inability to confront his own failings or take personal responsibility is probably what sits at the heart of all his problems.
If you have ever seen Alcoholism or Depression up close, then believe me Whitey its not an excuse its an illness.
Seen it, up, close and personal. I've dealt with my own demons, too. And trust me, addicts use any excuse going. Which is what I was saying. I never denied it (alcoholism/depression) was an illness. I also stand by what I first said - the person has to want to change. Trust me, I know.
I will say though, that I'm only going off my own experiences, and from what I have witnessed with family, friends etc. Each human mind is unique.
Would you please inform us of your credentials to judge the illness that is being suffered by Mr.Gascoigne?
The most gifted English football I have seen; brilliant to watch when on top form. I hope he gets through this but sadly I think it's only a matter of time before he's gone.
He has made his own choices as did my hero George Best. As for the depression, there are plenty on here who have had it and come out of it.
