Sorry to see AR go. He created a team spirit that was definately not there when Hart was in charge and managed to see us promoted. The football at times was very entertaining and although i didnt agree with some of Ritchies decisions i think we would have been in a much worse state under Parkin, Hart, Spackman etc.
Not sure whether there was a lack of funds or that Ritchie couldnt attract the personnel he wanted to. Some of the players here though should accept some responsilbilty for the poor season so far. There are several players who just aren't making the effort and sadly a lot more who are simply not good enough for this level. Hopefully we can hang onto the half a dozen or so that are capable and build a team around them.
As for who to replace him?
Well i know Macca or Redders name would be popular but i dont think Mick will move from a high profile job he has now and i think Redders would be better brought in as a coach rather than boss.
Worthington? Blackwell? Not popular due to Dee dar connections. Not convinced they would do a job neither. Dowie isnt that experienced and i think thats what the club needs to pull us out of the mire.
Personally i would go for Joe Royle.
Good track record, knows the league well. Almost managed to Get Ipswich up despite having a tight budget, knows everyone in football which could be handy for loans.

Joe as boss with Redders as coach?

Why would Royle want to come?

No loyalty to our managers and not great money...so the attraction would be....?

    A job

a challenge to keep us up. A team up North. Royle would be an excellent signing. As for loyalty, not many clubs have that anyway anymore. Joe knows the score.

Without coming across as Charlie Big Potatoes I know Joe Royle and I can't see him coming to Barnsley. I think he's not got the desire to do the job we need doing. He's made his money and had a good career.

    Pity.

Do you know Gary Megson Mr Potatoes?

He was shocking at Forest but did the business at West Brom. Would be my first choice.

I thought he did ok at Ipswich

Didnt he get them in the play offs a couple of times despite having to sell all the big name players? Just a bit unlucky i thought. Besides nearly 20 years in management cant mean hes a bad manager.

Rather have Royle here than Dowie. Dowie has taken a team up and brought them straight back down. Apart from that not much experience.
