these lads that are signing pro contracts,are they being signed because they are the real deal or are the club justing wanting to go down the cheap route?I do think and have thought so for a long time now the only way we will progress properly is through the young,so long as if and when we do get good young players we can hang on to them,or get mega bucks for em,Stonesie went far too cheap and he`d signed a long term contract
At the moment we are excited about so many of our academy lads looking like being given a chance. Some will definately make it. Some definately will fall by the wasteside failing to make the step up in the class. That's football and nobody should expect a 100% success rate with them. Just as important is that two of the most important guys at our club in Burton and Branson continue the excellent work they do with our academy. I believe (just an opinion) that those two in their jobs would be harder to replace for us then any first team player.
All these kids have got a massive chance next season, and our academy products didn't do too bad for us last time in L1. I reckon a couple of these are a lot better than our previous lot too.
