I can imagine the outrage if that was enforced..... Person a) I can only get at 9am after dropping the kids off at school Person b who is person a's Dad) Can only get after work at 3pm Person c who is Person a's Son (aged around 9)) can only get during school lunch time. There we have it, 3 people, Grandad, Dad, Son all sat in 3 different areas of the allocated tickets. Oh aye, a 9 YO sat somewhere on his own. Yes, limiting to one per ST could have worked, but making people turn up in person would have caused an even bigger outrage.
why? because you think that the club was right to advertise one rule and apply another? or because you think they were wrong to?
RE: why? because anywhere on this ticket fiasco you keep refering to this statement. Yes, probably wrong to state it, but I didn't come across one person who didn't go with anyone elses ST. I was just pointing out, that if they enforced it, imagine what would have happened then. I know your point is they shouldn't have, and probably they realised it too late, and didn't retract it, but that one scenario is one scenario that would have caused riots
RE: Answer I joined the queue with two others, we had three booklets and got six tickets even though only two of us are season ticket holders. I won't have been alone in doing such a thing.
RE: Answer and then you could still have the 9yo sat on his own. Answer is one per ST full stop. but you can't put a limit on it becasue of everyones personal circumstances. What is wrong with getting someone else ticket if you take there ST along?
RE: Answer No you couldn't surely the nine year old would sit with the other ticket while the grandparent/Dad sits on their own.
RE: Answer Exactly. If a season ticket holder doesn't wish to go and wants to help someone else out, they should be entitled to.
absolutely nothing. What IS wrong is the club announcing for some bizarre (and apparently unknown even to the general manager) reason that this rule was in place when in actual fact it wasnt. Regardless of whether the rule should have been in place or not (I like you, believe it should not) the fact that they DID announce a rule and then ignored it DID mean that some supporters missed out because they tried to follow the rules. That my friend is a fact and a fact that wont go away. The club giving out incorrect information has caused fans to miss out.
RE: but advertising one rule and applying another There are lots of things in life you normally have to apply for or deal with 'in person', but you are often allowed to do it by proxy or have an appointee in certain situations. Is this the 'ruling' you are referring to on the link below? http://www.barnsleyfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10309~1230307,00.html If the club had categorically stated 'one season ticket book per person' you would have a point - but they didn't. They have always allowed you to take multiple season ticket books in these situations.
I don't think that people turning up with more than 1 ST is an issue at all. It is the allowing them to buy 2 tickets on each ST that is wrong. In a way it is better for people to turn up with more than 1 as it reduces the amount of bodies in the queue. In an ideal world we could do with 1 guy turning up with 6000 ST's. People will say that they wouldn't want to go if they couldn't get a ticket for their wife/gf/friend etc but that is just tough luck. Every ST holder deserves a chance to buy a ticket and that could only happen with one per ST. If it had been 1 then probably not all ST holders would want one and there may have been some left to go on general sale anyway. And I would like to know who exactly these people go to Oakwell with every other week, do they not have any friends that they sit with every week who are also ST holders. Or, god forbid, go on your own and just mix.
