Another scoreboard thread...

    I know most people would rather by some non-league defender than have a big video screen in the corner of Oakwell but it is something that's got me excited - when I've seen them at away grounds I've always thought to myself it would be great to have something similar at Oakwell.

    Will it actually happen though? Some of examples of stuff Don's said they're gonna do before which they haven't.

    1. After the FA Cup run in 2008 Don said he would be using the money to do something with the West Stand because it had become uneconomical (or something) to maintain and they needed better media facilities - nowt happened.

    2. Oakwell to be covered in solar panels - a lot of the big news outlets and the BBC covered this extensively - never happened.

    There's probably other stuff but these are the ones that stick out for me. Not overly bothered about the solar panel thing not happened, personally I've got a bit of a problem with this solar companies who are set up purely to leech money of the Government with this feed in tariff lark, I understand the Tories have scaled this back. To be fair though I realise this industry has provided a fair number of jobs around here which is obviously a good thing.

    Would have liked to have seen something done with the West Stand but would much rather any cash is spent strengthening the squad at this moment in time - 100K won't add anything to the squad so I'm happy for this to be spent on the screen.

    I can just see us in twelve months time saying "remember when Don said he was buying a video screen?"

    Hope I'm proved wrong anyway!

    this was mentioned two seasons ago-needed sponsorship now the present scoreboard has given up the ghost with no spare parts(too old)out of date,only one option go for a Big screen score board and improve things for the fans......not poor quality TVs behind the stands any way when i win a the lottery......most of us true Barnsley fans would also put anew west stand in with a decent reception too.even local doctors looks better than present one ..(its all about image to the media)
