Well either he was wromg or our tactics are different.

I'll rephrase. Perhaps as a holding midfielder or basically a pushed on centre half he'll do okay.

    I believe

That was the first time he's played midfield this season. Certainly for a long, long time. I don't know whether he could make it as a midfielder or not, but I do know that when he's played almost all his games this season at centre half, and he's just come back from injury, he shouldn't be playing in midfield in a local derby against a team who have always played at a very high tempo against us.

what we needed was a midfielder that will get stuck in

unfortunatly we have kell, howard, shuker, devaney, mcphail, wroe, burns all of which are big girls really. none of them will throw their weight about in the middle.

maybe someone should tell mr ritchie that you can get different kinds of players and maybe signing a tougher midfielder could help us, even if it is just to sit on the bench and come on to change things in the second half if we need to.

Let's face it kay is a donkey. He just about gets by at the back if the opposition are poor but he's far too slow to make an impact in midfield. The lad hasn't improved, in fact over the last couple of seasons he's gone backwards.
