I think now hes stopped trying to be a "footballing centre half" hes a decent defender. Ive never seen his appeal as a midfielder and was absolutely gobsmacked when he was awarded player of the year. Yesterday on a bobbly pitch he showed no composure whatsoever. When a short pass or even a foot on the ball was required he was trying to play first time 20 yrd passes. Surely a straight swap for Reid would have been a better option for yesterdays game. As a midfielder Kay is the proverbial "Carthorse" and even makes Lee Crooks look ultra mobile.
