anthony kay is arguably one of our best players, he should not have been dropped. he's had a decent season so far, but his last 3 games have been below average. every player has this in a season. so what do you do ? drop him to the subs bench for a rest or keep him in the team and let him prove himself ? i know what i would do, but the manager thinks different. fair enough, he's the boss, and what he says has to be respected now AK obviously doesn't respect SD otherwise he would have been on the bench and not somewhere else. this is a problem. every player respected andy ritchie & co. SD is going to have a tough time if players are not going to respect him.
The reason players don't respect him is down to Mr Shepherd I'm affraid. He underminds his authority by getting too involved. Marc Richards had to go and see GS to ask if he had a future at the club, surely the Manager should hold that information and have the power to rid the club of players he feels no longer fit into his plans. To me it seems as though Simon Davey is the first team coach, and Gordon Shepherd is the manager. The whole set up needs to be re-assessed and a manager needs to be appointed, someone who understands the needs of the players, and knows how to get the best out of them. Simon Davey is a coach, nothing more and nothing less. He does not know how to manage people, and this is why the whole thing is falling on its arse.
I couldn't agree more. 5 people were interviewed for the job, but they gave it to davey why ? cheap option ?........yes or the other 4 contenders wanted to MANAGE the team and bring in their own scouts. now we can't be having that now can we............
We are the new Heart of Midlothian. But, without any of the success or Lithuanians. Romanov and Shepherd...same person?
bollock him! tell him **** up and you're out. although that'd be a bit redundant as we don't have much real cover. atkinson is good, but he's not very experienced, the pressure to replace kay could get to him.
Why shouldn't he have been dropped?
I had high hopes that he was going to settle down and become a half decent centre back but the lad has a massive ego problem. That showed yesterday if it's true that he walked out of the Club.
He needs to sit down with and old head and a video and analyse his play. He may then realise he is Mr Well Below average for a Championship defender.
He may have been one of our better players this season over the odd 2-3 game run but he hasn't got much to beat has he?
I know the lad from his Junior Sunday League days and there have been players who were at the time better than him turned away by the Club. There was no one more surprised than me when he was taken on by the club.
Mr Kay needs a reality check, but he's not alone in that. Too many of our player think they are super stars.
We are in the position we are in for one reason, most of our players are League 1 and 2 standard.
(casualty) That was me after yesterdays game. I am far from happy. But **** is **** no matter how you package it.

Davey has changed the club from a positive place to a concentration camp. The players don't look forward to training or anything anymore because of him. And, I don't blame them. The sooner we get rid the better, he's not a manager he's a kiddy coach.
It's a concentration camp They should enjoy playing for the club, not dread it. Davey should leave with some kind of respect by signing himself off. He's killing our team.
How on earth do you know what is going on on the training ground? Enlighten us. Have some of the players got used to a holiday camp atmosphere and dont like the idea of doing some bloody graft for a change?
Why don't you go and ask them It's easy enough to do. Davey isn't a manager, he's a kiddy coach, the sooner he leaves the sooner we can try and stay up. He is inept.
Or some of the players are unprofessional I do not know how hey would go on playing for the top managers.
Amazing how they gave everything under AR The respect they had for AR. They don't like SD, they have no respect for him. Work it out.
The players never had disipline under Ritchie.
It was like a jolly boys club with the Manager being one of the lads.
It must be tough on those ever so poorly paid players to have some disipline in their pampered lives.
The players should be working their socks of the please the Manager not the other way round.

They gave all under AR because there was no discipline in the club - like a holiday camp Should play for who ever is in charge and get in the real world. Work it out!
And yet it worked We won promotion, we played decent football. I firmly believe AR would've kept us up. Work it out.
