Flippin' dee dar builders, have built our drive so that the lowest part, (i.e. the bit that collects all the water) is right next to the air brick on the front of the house..... we pointed it out at the time, but they shrugged it off, saying the water would run off & into the drainage channels ... but it doesn't ... it collects where we said it would. Obviously we're going to get them back in, but is there an easy solution, or do we (they) have to re-lay the drive? (
It's almost as if they weren't really concentrating on the job isnt it I wonder what their mind was on
RE: Would you like to answer SuperTyke's question, fired? Well they didn't have much clue about gravity - and that water collects at the lowest part possible. I suppose they could have been thinking of "Great Sheffield Wednesday victories" ... that would have been long enough for their attention spans. Would anyone care to offer any USEFUL advice?
well you can but air brick flood covers that basically block off the vent and seals it up but im guessing that wouldnt be ideal for you
They could fit a channel drain to the nearest rainwater collection pot.</p> http://www.peter-savage.co.uk/trad_inlinedrain/tra_indrain.htm?gclid=CO-53tHH3pYCFQ2IMAod7x9Z1g</p>
Sounds like A bodge job to me (which would suit the builders!)..... surely the air brick needs to be free of obstructions? When water starts coming in, our new carpet is going to rot, and the floorboards.....
or there's this option http://www.ecocoverage.co.uk/smart.html Replaces your current airbrick and allows air in as the existing one does but automatically blocks itself off when water rises around it (it also blocks itself off in heavy wind). Or like kestyke says, they can remove a small section of the drive to create a new channel
I think you're right I think the flood covers are more of a temporary measure to put on if there's heavy rain like last summer, the other one i just posted is a better solution
Ha ha - as if ! If I so much clapped eyes on them, 1. "Now then, how did Wednesday get on week last Tuesday??" 2. When are you coming to sort out drive out? 3. Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Very ladylike me!
That would involve digging up a fair bit of the drive, as the drainage channel is up hill & 'round the corner of the new front of the house. Ah well, they'll have to do it!!
