Which would you look at based on these descriptions:
(Looking for family car that doesn't eat petrol like our Picasso does & doesn't cost fortune insurance wise).

    Vauxhall Zafira Life 1.6i ; 06/56; 3,000 miles £8639

    Vauxhall Zafira Energy 1.6i; 07/56 ; 3720 miles; £8795

    Vauxhall Zafira Life 1.8i; 05/55 9599miles; £8695

    Ford Focus c Max 1.6 Zetec mpv 07 reg ; 5189 miles £9,999

Ford Focus c max zetec 1.6 mpv; 4848 miles £7999

Renault Scenic Grande 1.6 MPV; 4080 miles £8999

Just want to narrow down a search that involves two totally clueless people!

    Cheers in advance.

You may find the 1.6 petrol is false economy as you will thrash the hell out the engine to get anywhere in it.

Look at the 1.8TDCI C max

    Dont buy a 1.8 petrol.

car tax next year is £300 in comparison with a diesel which will probably be £145 or less.

Get a 1.7 diesel (50 mpg) OK they are probably a bit more expensive and you'll have to accept higher mileage. Maths works out well if you keep for 3 years.

Just bought a Vectra 1.9 CDTi 06 with 40k on the clock for less than 9k.

Main regular journey will be 5 x 40 miles 'round trip a week, plus whatever we do at weekend/ hols etc. I'll be the main driver, so totally not fussed about performance (other than getting from a to b without breakdown); and don't want to be throwing money down the drain on repairs/ petrol. Need space for husband, 2 kids & all their gear.
Hubby likes Vauxhalls, as he thinks they last forever. I don't really care too much.

I dont see the attraction of MPV's

Estates are more practical and better to drive

Well now we've had the wall at the front taken away

I'm hoping that HIM indoors might be able to park without scraping the wing mirrors, wings etc... even in an estate!!

    :D

    Nice cars

Mileage figure on that is suspect but if you do a search on www.autotrader.co.uk etc I reckon you'll get a decent one with less than 13k on the clock for under 9 grand.

I bought my Vectra from the Car People after looking around for ages

Tend to be paying a grand more at Perrys

for that type of car than you would at other dealers though they do tend to have the lower mileage cars.

Perrys at swinton, rotherham seemed to have better deals than Barnsley.

Network Q can be good if you are prepared to travel to het the right car.

Mileage should not be a worry for you on a 1 year old car as Vauxhall offer 3 year / 60K warranties
