Whilst turning left in my Ford Focus I can hear a rubbing/scraping sound coming from the front left wheel area. It only does this whilst turning left and the sharper the turn the louder the scraping sound.
Any ideas? I have a feeling this is gonna cost me!

Sounds like you've got a problem with left turns mate.

Don't know if this is relevant, but we had a similar problem with my wife's Ford Fiesta. Because it was bought new, and under warranty, we kept going back to Polar until they sorted it. Eventually turned out to be a problem with the tyres, and when they changed them the noise disappeared.

Check that both your front mud flaps are properly secured. Could be something as simple as the tyre rubbing on a loose mud flap.

jay is right about mudguards, that's one idea
the tyre one is also correct if the wrong tyres or cheap tyres have been put on that wheel, or incorrectly balanced

maybe you should think about the wheel bearings too.

    try these

    1. Jack it up and check wheel aint loose
    2. Whilst jacked up check play in bearing by trying to wobbling wheel
    3. Also jacked up (with car out of gear) see if you can induce the noise by spinning the wheel and turnig it by hand. Easier to pinpoint.

If a metallic sound could be CV joint.
If a scraping sond it could be just something catching that you should be able to see whilst turning it.

Im not a mechanic or owt so cant be any more specific. Just what id do.

    satnav

cheapest option might be to buy a satnav system and concentrate on right turns.
