I have a m reg rover 418 sld turbo today while driving the rev counter dopped to zero and the battery light came on faint but it still drove ok any ideas please
Alternator packing up the ghost more than likely or a loose main alternator / batery wire. Get a volt meter and check the battery voltage when not running, running and at 2000 rpm. Should be 12V+ when running Take off all the big cables, clean up connections and replace..ideally in the same place. Make sure you know the radio code before disconnecting owt!.
RE: Alternator packing up the ghost more than likely thanks , would that explain the rev counter as well
RE: Alternator packing up the ghost more than likely Sounds like one of the diodes has blown in the voltage rectifier(diode pack). This shows as a faint red warning light. You will be getting some charge going back to the battery but not enough to charge it. It will knacker your battery up if you dont get it sorted ASAP. Batteries don't like being flattened so get the alternator sorted. Go and see Dave Marsden on Grange Lane Industrial Estate, he is a top sparkie. (pint) (pint) (popcorn) (pint)
