    Possibly

What sort of video is it? (by which I mean avi, mpg etc as opposed to thriller, drama, porno, whatever)
And what exactly is the error message?

If you have downloaded using youtubex, it will be saved in a format Media Player won't recognise.

Go to the youtubex home page and there is a link to a free player for these files.
