Barring the obvious win games etc, even that wouldn't fill Oakwell. Free tickets for schools have been suggested plenty of times but the club already give a large number out and teachers aren't willing to give up their own time to supervise the kids at weekend games. The club tend to get a lot of idea's from this site.
As said in the other thread by KFC - offer discounted tickets to attract immigrant populations to the ground. Let them know they're welcome and they might adopt us as their second team.
The attracting minorities is a great idea. A few others: - Armed forces day, free tickets to those currently serving - Make it easy for the 1912 club to get their tickets on the gate - Offer student prices to all students, not just 18-20 - Give away 1912 passes to Season Ticket Holders so they can bring a friend for discounted rates - Create a scheme where local clubs can buy say 10 tickets and only pay for 9 so we're effectively helping them fund raise
I think it's the Portuguese stadiums that have the seats in loads of different colours so that from the other end of the stadium, the stand actually looks full even if the crowd is sparse.
Sandbags We can stick pictures of famous people on them for the tele cameras next week, so they can do the usual, 'here's a true Barnsley lad...' line that they do for Dickie Bird. Can just imagine now, 'he's seen a few games over the years, a true Barnsley lad, the pope', they won't be expecting that. From a serious point of view, I just don't honestly think people are interested enough anymore. Yes it's getting dearer, but last weekend we charged £16 and still brought in no extra fans. You asked for something other than the obvious, start winning games, but realistically, thats probably the only thing which is going to draw fans back, if we regularly challenge the play-offs and are in a consistent position for the majority of the season. For me, I go to Oakwell because that's just my preference on how to spend a saturday afternoon, other people prefer to walk round town, other's would rather spend it in the boozer, each to their own.
Aye, going back a few years but remember when the north bank at Arsenal was under comstruction & they had that massive crowd mural to hide the works on match days? Lol, great for a laugh Arsenal- I think Spurs still have a song about that!!
Obviously reduce prices Get the players out into the schools giving talks and doing training sessions and get the kids to forget Man U and Liverpool and nag mum and dad to take them to watch Barnsley?
What they at least could do is sell the empty seats for advertising purposes. Seen huge advertising banners at Hudders & Millwall when there lower tiers behind the goals were closed, income for the clubs.
