Just found an electrical 'socket' in one of our rooms just above the skirting board. It has a little silver key which is next to a tiny opening with a green indicator on it. In the top of the socket are 2 red 'gates' that press in. I've absolutely no bloody idea what it's for and the key doesn't seem to do much when put in the key hole. Sounds like a personal attack alarm fitted as part of a burglar alarm system.</p> We have one summat similar near front door and one alongside the bed - idea is you press on the red contacts to set house alarm off if you feel threatened.</p> Key is used to reset it once it's been activated. </p>
