Can anyone help explain why I can connect to the internet via another pc or laptop - both wireless, but can't even get the start up page to load on the main pc which feeds the others?

    Yup

I'm worried that if I can't get it working, there'll be no more Girl Fridays.

Does a simple right click and repair on the connection not work?

    It won't click on anything

Even though the keyboard & mouse are both showing as connected. The damn thing doesn't realise how close it's getting to being thrown out of the flipping window!!

silly question, but have you checked the internet cable from router to PC

asuming you are using a seperate router, if so then often powering all off and then re-starting often works.

    Just managed to get on,

every lead etc unplugged and then put back and eventually got online to run a scan and then eventually connected to internet - only took just under 12 hours to connect.
