Could be weeks or even months. According to Collins. But as said. Back in light training.

Can’t wait for him to return as he is so pivotal to us but hope he has chance to come back when he is ready. Amazing player when fully fit.

This is the single biggest mistake made this summer and there's a bit of a list. Whatever Luca problem is they must have known it was a long job, finding one as good as him would have been hard/impossible but not fetching a like for like midfielder is madness and it they thought Russell could do the job I'm not sure what they have for eyes.

Doesn’t mean to say that even when he gets back he will be anything like he was before.I think too much emphasis is being put on him.

Anderson de Silva scenario all over again. How come when we get a special player 9 times out of 10 they always end up either having a career ruining injury or sold at a pittance

Agreed. Whatever has kept him out was obviously a very serious matter to keep it private. Let's hope he's the same player when he returns or his long term contract will be an issue.

Maybe he's done a Peter Knowles and found God. We're just honouring his contract like Wolves did just in case he changes his mind?

Even when he's back to 100% fitness it's going to be a long haul back to being match sharp. We could do worse than just ease him back in safe in the knowledge that it's unlikely anyone's going to put in a bid for him if he's not a starter.

Like for like midfielders like him are not available that easily. And if they are, it’s a few ££££.

If it's a long term chronic condition we could see repeated absences until his contract is up.
Surprised it wasn't picked up at his medical

I reckon it was, because I was frankly shocked he signed a 4 year deal with us when he would definitely have had championship interest.

Found this on his Wiki page. :) is that a first.

    BarnsleyEdit
On 17 June 2022, Connell returned to England to join League One club Barnsley on a Lifetime contract.

It really is concerning though. Whatever it is, I hope he comes back raring to go.

But if it was picked up at his medical, why on earth would BFC offer him such a long term deal,or indeed a deal at all?

And If Luca knew about his health why would he have accepted the contract unless he was piss taking with us?

Hopefully he was absolutely fine before he signed the contract and neither side knew something was up.

Because he's the best midfielder in the league and so it's better to have him on a 4 year than 2 year contract if you expect him to eventually make a full recovery.
