Its not PC to boot a woman or someone with a disability at any time but you can boot anything else depending on the circumstances

    I'm having problems too

I've found several work arounds for my problems.

Where does it get stuck and what OS are you running?

    RE: I'm having problems too

    Right, I run XP

And it's getting stuck at the start, basically.

I turn the PC on, goes through the motions, then a page appears saying the system was interrupted due to a power failure etc.

    Select:

    Safe mode

    Safe mode with networking

    etc

    Select last known config

    Or...start windows normally.

Problem is, my keyboard won't let me select any of them. BUT I know it's NOT a keyboard error, as before I get to this point, I am able to press f11 and go into the boot setup and the keyboard works fine on this screen, but then when it goes back to the safe mode etc screen, I can't get any further. Same has happened with a second keyboard I've tried

    Oh...

you've stumped me straight away. It sounds like some hardware's badly. At this point, assuming it's a desktop I'd be resorting to opening it up and randomly prodding stuff, gradually getting more and more agitated until I blew my top, turning the air blue. Probably not the best route to go down. Seriously though, it could be a loose connector somewhere.

    Try aother keyboard

If it has a USB fitting try one with the green plug on ir vicky verky. Also check you don't need to press another key at the top layer to make the F numbers work (I forgot what they call now) but some high faluting keybords use th F keys for other fumctions.

RE: If you have a second computer

No mate, didn't do anything. My sister tells me it was on at lunchtime, then when I went to use it in the evening it was turned off (though no-one turned it off) and then it led to this problem. As far as I'm aware, nothing has been done to it recently, in fact of late it hasn't been used too much, I've tended to use my work laptop instead.

Pretty damn annoying though as a f*ck load of my music is on there

RE: Are you using the tab button instead of the up and down arrows? nt

Nope, once I get to the screen in question with the safe mode, start windows normally etc options, the keyboard fails to respond, and then I just get the same endless cycle of 30 seconds to choose an option, not being able to, then the PC restarting itself and the same again..

I've read up on it a little bit (at like 3 a.m. last night - not the best time!) and it seems it's happened to a few, but they all seem a lot more technically gifted than I am with computers. I need to find my XP disc and try a repair from there, though if I'm honest, I'm not sure where the disc is
