Could some posters be put up in as many pubs/clubs/schools etc out over the next few days??

Hopefully the club will take out a big ad it in the local papers every night this week as well.

If folk who don't go to Oakwell but want to go, they should have some responsibility for checking the prices themselves if wanting to support the team.

We saw the wasted effort with Watford.

I'm sure it will be in the Chronicle.

I spent hours posting leaflets before the Watford game and it didnt make any difference. I really think the club have an almost impossible job getting some of the stay away fans to come back.

There's an advert in the chronicle in friday I believe.

Have spoke with the club about this. Anyone want to get involved in a street team to promote this and the 3 games over Christmas etc?

    What they paying?

And day before the game is something, but not ideal.

Wish I'd got a job at Oakwell.

It did make a difference though

There were considerably more Barnsley fans at the Watford game than there have been at the recent category A games. About 700 more. If we've got about 7,500 season ticket holders then the pay on the day attendance was up by about 70% for the Watford game compared to the Hull and Bristol City games. I think 70% is significant.

That's coming from a low base though

70% increase on next to nothing can hardly be described as a success.

From the base we were coming from, I would have hoped for a 250% increase considering the efforts some people went to.

However, the club needs to act on their own and not rely on supporters putting posters up, flyers, etc. We're a Championship club FFS, it's bordering on ridiculous

2 weeks worth in Chron, Star, Radio Hallam, Dearne FM, Galaxy, e-media, e-mailing/writing to lapsed ST holders and occasional supporters etc who are on The Clubs' database. Even writing to existing ST holders asking if they have friends or family that would like to take up the offer.

No, let's get a 'street team' out the week before.

Get the poster on the official site for people to print off and be able to paste onto emails and get them sent out to friends.

No longer being a resident of the borough - is the offer well publicised in the locality ?

Tarn centre should be awash with posters advertising it - every boozer, shops etc.

Point is it shouldn't be down to the fans to do the job of the club by promoting the match.

If any self respecting Barnsley "fan" doesn't know who we are playing on Saturday then there really is no hope for them.

I'm not sure the efforts of the club and some fans was reflected in the increase in fans. I certainly didn't feel as though my efforts paid off.

perhaps all season ticket holders could pay for a mate to go?... seeing as they are watching football on the cheap? its a little like only purchasing an item when theres a sale on isnt it, buying a season ticket?

They know who we're playing but they think it's £30 that's the problem.

WHat about an advert in the times and a 2 minute TV add during Coronation Street as well?
