Anyone know roughly how much it should cost for a ceiling to be pulled down, then re-boarded and skimmed for a room around about 14 foot by 12?

    Cheers.

No idea on the price but are you sure it needs the ceiling pulling down and not simply boarding over (or under I guess technically) the existing ceiling? Would cut down on the cost and the mess significantly.

The survey on the house said it needed pulling down mate. Anyone got a rough idea?

Save some money and pull it down yersen, nowt of a job. Plaster boarding isn't that difficult either. Just need someone to skim it for you then.

I have done a bit of plaster-boarding myself - and I'm "only" a woman. It really is quite straightforward - BUT where ceilings are concerned, you have to hire the platform to hold the boards up, otherwise you will have biceps the size of Bournemouth and a crick in your neck for a month. Give it a go and then get someone in to do the "mudding and taping" to finish it off properly.
