I am having my Bathroom done out and been told I can have a Dergo valvle fitted, which would create a bit more space in a small bathroom as soil stack cuts off part of a corner.

What are the pro's and con's of these?

without it youll get the full smell of the sewer coming up the pipe, It lets air in but nasty brown things wont come out upwards!

    Air Admittance Valve

Valve that goes on top of 4'' soil pipe to save takin the pipe outside to open air for ventilation. Basically it lets air in to the pipe but not air (nasty smells) out. Can't see how he's goin to use it tho' because its got to be fitted (so many mm) above spillover level ie. top of wash basin (highest point).
