any "pop up" peeps about?

    restored a laptop t'other day from scratch,
    now normally im ok with setting the stuff up, never have any trouble on mine,
    but this un....the explorer is always popping up websites thru IE even though ive put deepnet on as the default,
    this started before id surfed anywhere, and no spyware found on it,
    run the msconfig and theres a few i dont know, plus some that are phishy which are disabled.
    anyone know?

    Have you tried using another browser instead of IE. I use Firefox on one of my pc's and Maxthon on the other and have no problems with pop ups at all, you can configure these easier than IE and are a lot safer from spy attacks.

    sounds like spyware/virii.

    Try spybot / adaware for more spyware checks. Could also be a virus. check www.grisoft.com .

    As you haven't downloaded anything knowingly, chances are it's come through an open port. Check SRC.com to see how secure you are.
