Hi all, I have an interview soon for a graduate job at BAE Systems up in Barrow so I am wondering if anyone works there to give me any pointers/advice. Thanks in advance, you reds
Good stuff I was a structural engineer for ten years up at Barrow before I made my break for the sun. It's a decent enough company to work for and it's big enough to offer many opportunities. Work must be fairly buoyant up there at the moment with the future submarine design. Barrow is a laugh as well, once you get on their wavelength. Chuffin odd place until you do though! I can't tell you much about the graduate programme there because I bypassed it but they tend to move you around a bit so you get an overall view of operations. As for the interview, it's difficult to give advice as every interviewer is looking for different things. I know they've turned down first class graduates before because they didn't come across as level headed. Act normal, treat it as a meeting and talk their talk. Things they worry about... retention of skills (avoiding potential big gaps between projects), affordability for the customer, building the reputation of the yard to deliver on time and on budget and safety. Talk about these things and you'll appear like a chip off their block. Good luck.
Re: Good stuff Thanks a lot for all the info, highly appreciated! Yeah one of my friends has lived in Barrow and she says it's like a goldfish bowl as everyone knows each other! Let's see how the interview goes
Re: Good stuff Budmustang, Just a quick message to say thanks for the advice you gave me regarding the BAE Systems interview. I had it last Thursday but did not get the job, unfortunately. All the best, CT
