Going for 2 weeks this Thursday, Hotel Santa Lucia. Read different reports on Trip Advisor, from being a crap Hotel to being fantastic. Not sure what to expect. Going to miss Gillingham on Sat and Donny away next week. Hope any replies are genuine.

I went to Majorca last year - I didn't make it to the area you mention - but I would suggest visiting the area around Valledemossa, Port De Soller and Deya'. We drove around quite a bit of Majorca and this was the stand out bit for me. The far north at Pollenca and the area around Arta' were also nice.

Near there at least.... isn't it a few hundred yards from Magaluf?

I'm on Palma old town tonight. Weather great, food and drink very reasonable, lovely friendly people. Sure you'll have a great time.

    'tis a **** hole

Comparatively speaking with the better resorts on Majorca. Probably OK if you like "EastEnders" and "Only fools and horses" bars.

Still, on the beach with your sunglasses on its better than here.

Went last year with a mate, it's a great place. Palma Nova itself is only about 15 mins walk from Magaluf but aside from the parties heading down to Maga, it's pretty chilled out and more classy. There's decent nightlife in Palma Nova but only in the form of cafe/bar/restaurant type places. There's one bar that turns into a club late on, Banana Joe's its called, great venue. During the day it's more family orientated, great beach (expect to pay for a sun bed), loads of eateries and things like crazy golf (an excellent one through a tropical garden for around 9 euros). It's a vibrant place but due to Magaulf being in close proximity, it tends to retain the more chilled out holiday makers rather than the binge drinking types. That said, the Magaluf crowd do stay in the hotels in Palma Nova so they can get lively, not sure on the one you're in mind. There's a great little bar just down from O'Neils owned by an Irish lad (cannot think of the name), absolutely brilliant, very friendly. So yeah, great place for a holiday and if you fancy it, Magaluf is literally down the road!

Ive just got back from Magaluf but my hotel was classed as being in Palma Nova. Wouldnt be too bothered about the proximity to the young/loud party scene now as it wa pretty dead when I was there.

Stayed in the very same hotel a few years back. Right on the sea front...walking distance to all boozers and restaurants etc... Magaluf is literally a ten minute walk away.

Hotel itself was bob on....well it was for us anyway (me, the wife and a 2 year old at the time). Plenty of decent food and drink on offer throughout the day....I think we just ended up staying by the pool most days with the youngster which was spot on.

    hope that is of help.

came back from maga last week, your hotel is a 5/10 min walk away from there, better bars than palma nova unless you've got kids, but eat in palma nova.
don't be put off with the idiot tag, was very quiet midweek & starts winding down now, expect stag/hens thur-sun but doubt it in your hotel.

My brother has been to this hotel a 4 times over the last years or so.
He has been back from there 2 weeks and he loves the place. he reckons the food is better now than it was and the reception area has been improved. The staff are very good except one of the receptionists who can sometimes become sarky ! The drinks are good, but he says that you shouldnt have to pay to use the fridge and a kettle in the room ?

    Thanks for the info.
I have also heard that those who go all inclusive, like myself, have to buy their own water. Never known that at other hotels I've been to.

Free WiFi is no good if you are dying of thirst!
