Don/Barry obviously didn't notice us sinking slowly to the bottom of the league, so didn't get a replacement lined up in advance and are now floundering about trying to attract whichever manager happens to top internet popularity polls based a couple of hundred fans opinions. You couldn't make it up
Very. As long as it's not Carlton Palmer or Blackwell, I'll get behind him. The Full Ponty gets my vote!
I'd rather we got the right man than rush and get it wrong but yes I am hoping we make an announcement within the next couple of days.
It does seem that there is a lack of expertise down at Oakwell in some very key areas and not just on the pitch. Carrying out the selection process so publicly is not the best approach, as it leaves the cub wide open to being used for ulterior motives by people looking for other positions or a pay rise/better deal at their own club, as well as making us look like fools when we get turned down just as publicly. And I agree, the sacking of Hill is not a decision that suddenly arose, the board have had some time to consider this and prepare what they wanted to do to take things forward. At the moment they are looking like a couple of blokes that are completely out of their depth.
I'm pretty sure that if it had been done privately, these boards would instead be flooded with "our Board is a joke, why are they keeping us in the dark, what happened to The Don realigning with the fans"
I'm more concerned that the new manager is going to be left with **** all of the current transfer window left to make any considered decisions and changes.
Winning in the league was quality. Having a team to be proud of was quality. Being embarrassed week after week by results, manager, club, managers who don't want to come is a bit rubbish really. not my kind of entertainment any road.
I'm proud of this team. Graft like I've never seen a Barnsley side graft, cost less than every other side, finished Saturday with 3 academy graduates, one scored the winner etc. I'm proud of that.
Yes it's frustrating but that's a little harsh. Terry butcher was nowhere on the polls until he was mentioned as a possible candidate then new polls were made with him and after some had done some research and decided he was actually a good call voted for him in numbers. Sean OD was the one manager that would have united a significant majority of the supporters. The timing of hills saving and SOD sacking in my humble opinion was no mere coincidence. I appreciate being kept in the know. As said if it was all hush hush by now there would be uproar that the club were doing nothing at all. I'm enjoying the ride but wish for the clubs sake it's sorted Vertu soon to give the new manager the Jan window to build.
Proud of don and Barry for not having anyone lined up despite watching the manager fail for almost 12 months? Proud of don and Barry for not really having an idea who they want, so apparently adopting a "follow fan popularity polls" policy instead? Debacle
SOD was interviewed 5 days after Hill was sacked. Butcher the day after getting permission from ICT which came the day after S'OD turned us down. I don't see what they've done wrong. They've waited to see who applied. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Fair enough, nice to know-you're happy, cos every game except one, I've come away from Oakwell, with two kids feeling anything but proud. I'm not denying there are some performers in the side to be pleased with, but I'm less proud to be a Bransley fan than any time in my life, and that's 30 odd years.I'm sure it's partly an age thing, but id really struggle to say anything about how I feel is"quality".
Because, if they'd had owt about them, they would have been looking round and had someone lined up to take over when they sacked him. It's not as if it was something dropped on them overnight, he'd been failing for 12 months. What's that saying? **** poor preparation leads to **** poor performance? The transfer window is slipping away... Tick tock, tick tock *** packet-tastic
