Because on the face of it, that's a ***** result. But what was the performance like? Player ratings etc? Did we still lack creativity in the middle? How good/bad were the Pikeys?
We dominated the game but couldn't score. M'Voto and O'Grady missed free headers that were absolute sitters, couldn't believe they missed them. Nailed on penalty that O'Grady should have put his foot through. Paddy was shocking in the first half, kept losing the ball but improved in the second. A couple of great runs but nothing came of them. Back four did well, M'Voto won every header. Butland's kicking was poor. Front two were below par. Scotland was even worse when he came on. Perkins played well but Fox was poor, rightly taken off. O'Brien and Wiseman linked up well and both put in some good crosses. Kennedy also put in a few great crosses. Donny were awful and rarely threatened. Butland didn't have a save to make. Decent performance, woeful result.
Now I am not having that ! Steele is the only keeper in the history of football that ever kicks a ball poorly! Ask the idiots on here !
His kicking is usually much better. He could do with picking one foot and sticking with it rather than alternating.
Why do you give a special mention for how shocking Paddy was ? In my opinion it was Donny that were shocking and Paddy was at least trying to win the game for us.
It was shocking, Whitey. We might be poor, but they were worse (if you can imagine such a thing). We don't have any ideas. If we'd have been playing anyone that was any good we'd have lost again. Paddy got motm, would've given it M'voto or O'Brien personally.
Butland 6/10 No saves to make, poor distribution. Kennedy 7/10 Made good passes and looked good defensively Cranie 7/10 Looked solid M`Voto 8/10 Looked solid won loads of headers and clearances Wiseman 6/10 Not tested much and didnt offer anything threatening with O`Brien down the right McCourt 7/10 Always looked to create something, but his shooting and passing was poor at times Perkins 6/10 OK passing and didnt go backwards as much Fox 6/10 Good passer but doesnt offer anything else especially defensively O`Brien 5/10 Poor attacking player crossers are usually poor as was Wiseman`s O`Grady 6/10 Won lots of headers didnt do much else Pedersen 5/10 Didnt have much many touches but lost it a few times and didnt have many chances at all
Did you go home early? Cywka's miss in the last seconds was the easiest of the lot. Free header 5 yards out, gaping net and he headed it wide.
Poor game, mate M'voto & Cranie were solid enough, Butland didn't have a noteworthy save to make, O'Brien's energy levels were impressive, the only creativity came from McCourt (who wasn't at the top of his game, but was not the passenger some have said). Doncaster were poor, but we weren't much better. The best bit of the day, for me, was meeting The Full Ponty (can't remember the last time I saw him) & Dyson.
Re: Poor game, mate Thought Perkins in the 2 nd half was back to the positive player he was last year, made some good runs into box and delivered a few crosses which deserved a goal, cyzka had a good 9 mins on pitch , and gave there left back a torrid time. We deserved to win but it was one of them days where nothing went in
Should have won easily A bit slow in the build up - still pass it about too much on the halfway line instead if looking for killer passes - but had enough possession and created enough decent chances to have won 3 games. Pikeys never looked like scoring except for one effort late in 2nd half which went wide. M'voto and COG could have had 3 each. Poor penalty.
Re: Poor game, mate I agree Perkins had a great 2nd half, would have been my MotM, thought Paddy looked a bit lost on the left, contrary to what I have previously said on today's performance he should be more central. Fox was poor and we looked better when Dawson was on, Pederson was very poor for me today, did absolutely diddly squat. Jimbo had a good game, should see him get a run in the team on that performance, back four were rarely troubled - Doncaster were dire, they had one decent player - nos 7 - Duffy, he caused us some problems, the rest you could just chuck in the bin, the fact we couldn't beat this shower is very worrying.
Re: Poor game, mate So to summarise we werent at the races, but created at least 5 sitters includin a pen but couldnt put it in the onion bag, against a poor side.
2 relegated sides played out a fcking awful 0-0 If CoG had scored his penalty we'd have still conceded cos we'd have just sat deep all 2nd half and asked Donny to attack. Not heard any post match interview, but I bet we're hanging on the missed pen, the missed opportunities by M'Voto, Scotland, CoG (again) and Cwyzka. And the clean sheet. Whilst glossing over the total and utter lack of quality on the park.
Donny fans must be thinking they were lucky to get a point, but judged by their tactics and play that's all they were playing for. A fair result would have been 3-1 to us on the chances we had
Poor lacking ideas or innovation. Desperate Donny team there for the taking and we were found lacking. MCCourt the only player on display on either team who was trying to be innovative and creative. Sometimes this worked sometimes not.
