Anyone with nowt better to do - want to work out my annual leave entitlement for me? Bit complicated but here goes:- Full time staff (37 hours) = 28 days leave a year I'm currently half time (18.5) = 14 days a year but will be going onto 4 days a week = 28 hours in January. What I need to know is how much additional holiday (on top of the 14 days) I should be entitled to accrue during Jan - end March when I will be working 28 hours a week. I have 7 days remaining on the exixting entitlement. Way too complicated for me to work out!! (seestars)
You are entitled to 5 days earned Jan-March if your employer calculates it pro rata. That is added then to the 7 you have left to take ?
RE: No I think it's No wonder no fcker ever turns up here. They're all on their excessive holiday entitlement I calculated.
LOL I'm gonna work for Hartog!! Thanks folks. How is it calculated then? (Just so I can show my boss / fiddle with the figures a bit before I show the boss!)
RE: LOL I'm gonna work for Hartog!! The entitlement you'll earn working 28 hours per week Jan to March, compared with the entitlement you earn working your normal hours. 1.79 days extra. ( You'll earn about 5 days compared to 3 and a bit days under normal circumstances)
RE: 5 If your 4 days = 28 hours
how does their 5 days = 37 hours
ahhhh gotcha !!!! yer cooookin the boooooks

How dare you ridicule the profession... sometimes I have to work out 'shared- bys' and they aren't half hard
37 hours gives you 28 days of holiday So divide 28 by 37 to get how many holidays 1 hour will get you. Then multiply this number by 9.5 as that is the extra hours you'll be working from January. However, you'll only be doing this extra work from January until March, a total of three months, so divide the number you have by 12 (months in a year) and multiply it by 3 (the months you'll actually work). The answer is 1.79. Or summat.
Impressed (worship) Knew it was something like that. Should I just round it up to 2 days then?!! (clap)
Actually European Employment Law states that all permanent employees are entitled to a MINIMUM of 24 days holiday per annum, whether the employee is full time or part time is irrelevant (provided they work 5 days a week). Any employer who fails to adhere to this would leave themselves open to prosecution under said law .
