    Western Digital not too massive in size quick loading. Wouldn't be without it dump everything on it out of the way for later recall. PC world doing some good offers on them but try our mate at Darton.

    however it needs a power supply-provided-and has no fan

    the smaller one just plugs in the usb slot

    Lacie drives are decent - got a 500gb one last week

    £100 or there abouts. Used by proffesional media companies don't ya know.

    Most of the larger ones do need a power supply

    Ain't enough voltage to run them from the USB. Other 2 i have don't have fans either, never had a heat problem as they are usually open to the air ( the whole chassis that is ) andnot many run them on a permanant basis only as and when required,

    Saying that mines been on for months cos i can't be arsed to get under desk to shut it off,
