I have up my loft 80 bottles,German, French, Italian, wines white and red. Most are 20 years old some are 40 years old. Are they any good or should I throw them all in a skip ?
don't know a lot but I think white doesn't keep well unless the grapes are grown on the south side of the valley. Have a wine tasting evening, open all the bottles and have the phone predialed to 999.

What a Waste!!! Depends on what they are and how they've been stored. Some wine improves with age other wines are better when young. Also bottles of wine should be stored on their side so that the wine is in contact with the cork, otherwise the cork dries the air gets in and knackers yer wine.
Depends on the original quality. Good stuff might, but I doubt it really. Ordinary table wine won't have, and I wouldn't trust the German.
Another factor is the loft. If it gets red hot up there in summertime, I reckon the lot will be off.
Only thing to do is try it.

There's a good web site somewhere That gives some indication on whether a particular vintage of wine keeps.
I'll try to find out and let you know.
Don't chuck it!!
Tha just might have a gem or two.

I have doubts about the 'stuff' as mentioned all lofts get hot and cold although the bottles are on their side. Could be lethal if supped after 40 years.
Well you can be sure of one thing If it looks and tastes OK its safe to drink If its gone off you wont be in any doubt I am sure
