You'll need some snow. Find a slopey bit, get to the top & point your skis towards the bottom. Go. Allus works for me.

a could do with some advice aswell off on a skiing holiday with school in April. A can't wait never been skiing before though.
Seriously....I've got no idea. But I know a man who does. Try E I Addio - he leads such a gregarious and Bacchanalian lifestyle that skiing is now an 'ever-present' on the Addio household fixture list. Knows a piste or two....
start with the snow plow til your more confident. try sheffield ski village for learning how to do it. as for equipment, DO NOT get an all in one suit unless you have the body of a 40 something Pierce Brosnan playing James Bond. get a nice warm coat, a fleece or hoodie for underneath the coat. some salopettes (trousers) they can be quite expensive though so you should try renting some. i rented from blackwood sports on doncaster road in tarn both times i've been. schools usually sort out ski hire when you get there. Hope that helps
Noooo
Go to Xscape at Castleford. The artiicial stuff at sheffield might easily put some people off.

Xscape at Castleford is good for learning, they have real snow, not like that horrible coconut stuff at Sheff. Gets a bit busy and is quite pricey, but theres nothing like skiing on real snow.
