Just been having a trawl through the Football League site and came across this little snippet: Fastest sendings-off - there are two timed at 0 seconds, one of which is: Ian Banks - Barnsley 16 Dec 1989 - Sent off while warming up to come on as a substitute Now I know from looking at the official history that the game was away at Bournemouth, but does anyone have any recollection of this incident? I for one have never heard of it before.
Bournemouth had just scored a goal That was so far offside , Luther Blissett was in a different time zone to the nearest Barnsley defender . Ian Banks , who was warming up on the touchline , questioned the eyesight , competance and parenthood of both the referee and linesman . The linesman took exception to Banger's accurate assessment of the situation and signalled his displeasure to Mr Magoo in the middle . He in turn decided to send Banks off . At the time , Barnsley were very near the foot of the old 2nd Division and had sacked manager Allan Clarke a few weeks before , which also prompted the resignation of **** Geoff Buckle . When you're at the bottom , nothing goes in your favour and this episode was the perfect example .
RE: Bournemouth had just scored a goal Thanks mate. That's another one to add to my memory bank of useless BFC trivia!
